George Clooney has had enough with the press around Meghan Markle. Clooney even goes far enough to say that the press is treating her the same way they did with the late Princess Diana.
Meghan’s family drama has reached a peak in the media. Her father published a handwritten and personal letter from Meghan where she begs her dad to stop turning to the media. All this drama has Clooney fed up.
While promoting his upcoming Hulu show Catch-22, Clooney stood up for his friend and slammed the way she has been treated since becoming a Duchess.
“They’re chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” Clooney told reporters at a press panel according to People magazine.
“She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself.”
“We’ve seen how that ends,” Clooney said referencing Diana’s fatal car crash. The late princess died in a car crash while being chased from paparazzi in Paris in 1997.
Clooney lightened up and joked that he is going to be the royal baby’s godfather.
“Oh yes, I’ll be godfather [sic] of the royals apparently,” Clooney joked. “No!”
“I’m a father of twin, I have enough s**t to deal with — literally!” Clooney said.
Clooney and his wife, international law and human rights lawyer, Amal Clooney are close friends with the Duke and Duchess. They even attended their wedding in May 2018. Amal and George have twins, Ella and Alexander in June 2017. Meghan and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in Spring 2019.
Recently Meghan’s inner circle has been speaking out against the media’s behavior towards Meghan. Five women who are part of her circle spoke to People about the “global bullying” the mother-to-be has endured.
