Kim Kardashian Is Suing A Fast Fashion Company For $10 Million

Kim Kardashian has sued fast fashion company Missguided for $10 million for using her likeness to sell clothes. She is claiming that the company profits off her likeness and trademarks to help sell knockoffs.

Kim has been fighting against fast fashion brands for a while now. She regularly calls out brands for copying her outfits and her husband Kanye West‘s Yeezy brand.

Most recently she shared a photo of herself wearing a gold dress that Kanye designed for her.

“Going through old fitting pics & found this gold look that Kanye made for me for my Miami trip last summer (I went w the neon vibes instead),” she wrote. “P.S. fast fashion brands, can you please wait until I wear this in real life before you knock it off?”

A few hours later Missguided had a replica dress on their site. This is nothing new. Fashion Nova regularly sells knockoff dress that the Kardashian-Jenners wear.

For Kylie Jenner‘s 21st birthday party Fashion Nova has knockoff outfits of Kylie’s pink glittery jumpsuit and Kim’s neon pink cut out dress up the next day. The family has done Instagram promos for the brand.

Kim’s lawsuit comes after speculation that she works in tangent with fast fashion brands, specifically Fashion Nova, so they can post knockoff dresses right after she is seen wearing them.

Fashion Instagram account, @diet_prada accused Kim of doing such when she wore a vintage Thierry Mugler dress to the 2019 Beauty Awards. Shortly Fashion Nova had a knockoff dress on their site.

@Diet_prada shared a video of the photo shoot for Fashion Nova’s knockoff Mugler dress. The timestamp of the photoshoot happened four days before Kim was seen wearing the dress. The file name for the photos was also dubbed “Kim Dress.”

Kim shot back at these accusations on her social media.

“It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat and tears of true designers who have put their all into their own original ideas,” she tweeted.

“I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.”

“Only two days ago, I was privileged enough to wear a one-of-a-kind vintage Mugler dress and in less than 24 hours it was knocked off and thrown up on a site – but it’s not for sale,” Kim tweeted. “You have to sign up for a waitlist because the dress hasn’t even been made to sell yet.”

She then shot down the accusation that she has relationships with these fast fashion brands.

“This is a way to get people to sign up for their mailing list and make people believe there is some kind of relationship between me and this fashion site. There is not.”

“My relationships with designers are very important to me. It’s taken me over a decade to build them and I have a huge amount of respect for the amount of work that they put into bringing their ideas to life.”

“I often plan for weeks, sometimes months, and even a year in advance, and I’m grateful for every fashion moment those designers and their dresses have helped me create.”

“So, as always, don’t believe everything you read and see online,” Kim concluded. “I don’t have any relationships with these sites. I’m not leaking my looks to anyone, and I don’t support what these companies are doing.”

According to Pop Crave, Kim is suing Missguided for $10 million for using her likeness to sell clothes. Kim is not suing Fashion Nova who also does the same thing.

The Kardashian-Jenner family has been accused multiple times of copying and knocking off lesser-known designers. They have had countless lawsuits regarding their knock-offs.
