Armando Hernandez: Photos, Full Story & Must-See Details

Armando Hernandez, six-years-old, has been identified as the youngest victim of the Alabama and Georgia tornado that killed “at least” 23 people.

According to reports, Hernandez became separated from his mother in Beauregard, Alabama when the tornado hit on Sunday, March 3. Hernandez was unfortunately found dead later.

Hernandez’s mother Kayla Melton posted a status on Facebook asking for help in locating her young son: “Please look for my baby hes 6 years old his name is Armando Hernandez he goes by AJ last seen on lee road 38. Anyone in the area please help me find him please!!!!!”

The Lee County Coroner’s Office has since confirmed that at least 23 people have been killed as a result of the tornado. While most of the victims have been identified, police are waiting until relatives have been notified before disclosing the victims’ identities.

On the night of Sunday, March 3, the East Alabama Medical Center said they were treating more than 40 patients as a result of the tornado and were expecting more as the night progressed.

In a statement, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey said that “hearts go out” to the victims of this natural disaster.

“Our hearts go out to those who lost their lives in the storms that hit Lee County today. Praying for their families & everyone whose homes or businesses were affected. Officials from @AlabamaEma & other agencies are quickly working to provide assistance,” Ivey tweeted.

As for President Trump, he has since confirmed that Alabama will receive “A Plus” treatment from FEMA:

“FEMA has been told directly by me to give the A Plus treatment to the Great State of Alabama and the wonderful people who have been so devastated by the Tornadoes. @GovIvey, one of the best in our Country, has been so informed. She is working closely with FEMA (and me!),” Trump tweeted.

At this time, authorities have told anyone who has a missing family member to call the Lee County Coroner’s office at 334-737-3620. Lee County Schools were closed on Monday, March 4.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Hernandez during this difficult time.
