The “Riverdale” & “90210” Casts’ Reactions To Luke Perry’s Death Are So Heartbreaking

On March 4, 2019, it was confirmed that Luke Perry died after he suffered a stroke a few days before. His death shocked Riverdale and Beverly Hill, 90210 fans.

Perry first rose to stardom playing the bad boy Dylan McKay in Beverly Hill, 90210. His return to a teen drama TV show delighted fans and brought on new and younger fans who didn’t grow up with 90210.

To old fans, he’s known as Dylan but to newer Riverdale fans, he is known as Archie Andrews’ dad Fred Andrews.

Perry’s reps confirmed he died surrounded by his loved ones while at home.

“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke. He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie
Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of
support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be
released at this time.” his publicist said in a statement to Elite Daily.

His death has rocked the entertainment world especially his Riverdale and 90210 co-stars. Check out below how his co-stars are remembering the late Perry.


Riverdale

Actress Molly Ringwald, who plays Perry’s ex-wife on Riverdale, tweeted about his deather. She wrote that her “heart is broken” and is “sending all my love to your family.”

Mädchen Amick, who plays Betty’s mom on the show, tweeted at fans to respect Perry’s family’s privacy at this time.

When Perry had his stroke she shared an image of the two with the caption, “love you Luke.”

The Riverdale writer’s room wrote a heartfelt tweet in honor of Perry.

“Luke Perry… you were a joyful and vibrant soul. You will be missed but most certainly your legacy will be remembered forever. Rest in love and peace, friend,” the twee reads.

Marisol Nichols, who plays Hermoine Lodge and one-time love interest of Perry’s character, shared a selfie of the two.

“I don’t have any words now. Maybe I will later,” she wrote followed by a broken heart emoji. She also changed her Instagram bio to “Luke.”

Ross Butler, who played Reggie on season one of Riverdale, shared a throwback photo of Perry. “We lost an original today,” Butler wrote. “A legend. He paved the way for us. Although we didn’t work much together, he always greeted me with a smile, had a joke ready, and a story to tell. Rest in peace, Luke. Rest easy.”

Madelaine Petsch, who plays Cheryl Blossom, posted on Instagram about Perry’s passing.

“Luke, I am so lucky to have known you & gotten so close to you these last 3 years,” Petsch wrote. “You were such a light in our lives; the most genuine & kind soul I will ever know.”

Camila Mendes, who plays Veronica, also followed suit and mourned Perry’s passing on Instagram. “He took care of us all. An authentic man who took pleasure in offering us his guidance and wisdom. His presence was healing; he had the ability to make you feel comfortable and at ease within seconds of seeing him,” Mendes wrote. “I will never forget the collective shock and distress we experienced when the news broke on set. we lost a dear friend.”

KJ Apa, who played Perry’s son Archie Andrews on Riverdale, broke his silence on Perry’s death. Apa kept his sentiments short, “Rest in Love bro,” he wrote.

Beverly Hills, 90210

Ziering, who played Steve Sanders on 90210, posted a photo of Perry on his Instagram.

“Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years,” Ziering wrote. “May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here for those you leave behind. God please give him a seat close to to you, he deserves it.

When Perry first had his stroke Ziering also posted a photo on his page asking people to pray for the actor.

Current SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris, who starred on 90210 as Andrea Zuckerman, released a statement about Perry.

“I am absolutely heartbroken. Luke was a tremendous force in the lives of so many. He was a very sensitive soul who was kind, generous and he fought for the underdog. He was a strong voice and an advocate who will be so missed by all who knew him. He has left his mark – never to be forgotten. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans around the globe,” Carteris said in a statement according to Variety.

Emma Caulfield Ford, who played Susan Keats on the show, tweeted a thread about Perry and memories she had of him on set.

Kathleen Robertson, who played Clare Arnold, made a tribute to Perry on her Twitter. She said that he was so welcoming on 90210.

Christine Elise McCarthy, who played new girl Emily Valentine, shared a photo of Perry on her Instagram. She said that she is “stunned and devastated” over his death.

“With the heaviest of hearts, I am stunned and devastated to tell you that Luke passed away,” McCarthy wrote. “I am still in shock and I have no words beyond saying he was a truly kind gentleman. He will be mourned and missed by everyone who knew him and the millions who love him. RIP, dearie Luke. Your time here was far too short.”
