After being teased almost weekly since the premiere episode of this season, Colton Underwood finally jumped over *that fence* on this week’s episode of The Bachelor.
But what led to this seemingly made-for-TV moment?
Underwood — a former NFL tight end who played for teams such as the San Diego (now Los Angeles) Chargers, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Oakland (soon-to-be Las Vegas) Raiders — is a virgin, a fact that ABC has leaned on heavily in their marketing of The Bachelor this year.
And because of this lifestyle choice, it is assumed that Underwood will be losing said virginity to whoever he ultimately picks at the end of The Bachelor. And for a moment, Colton thought that woman was 23-year-old Cassie Randolph, who he said “is the one.”
“Cass is the one. I can definitely see us working forever. I just know for sure – I love Cassie. Point blank,” Underwood told the confessional cameras.
However, unfortunately for poor ole’ Colton, Cassie didn’t feel the same way and broke the big fella’s heart, causing him to just cut bait, run away, and hop the nearest fence.
It was somewhat strange, but when you consider that Underwood is a former professional athlete, using that athleticism to avoid painful and awkward situations seems like a natural fight-or-flight defense mechanism.
