Many behind the scenes stories were told and secrets were revealed about the beloved show. But most importantly fans want a reunion or a movie and Schur told fans exactly what needs to happen to get one.
“I think that in the world that we live in now, nothing is every gone,” Schur said. “Everyone on this stage — and like six other people — would have to feel like there was a story that needed to be told.”
Schur went on to say that if one person vetoed the idea of a reunion, revival or movie they wouldn’t do it. But Schur thinks that a revival of Parks and Rec isn’t necessary.
“The show had an argument to make. The argument was about teamwork and friendship and positivity, being optimistic and not getting cynical and believing that people can do good and believing in the power of public service and believing that if you work hard and you put your head down and believe in the people around you who are part of your team, that good things are possible,” Schur continued. “That you’ll achieve the things you want to achieve, and I don’t feel like we left anything on the table. I feel like the show sort of made its argument. And we also — maybe this was like a preventative measure os something — we did jump ahead to the year, like, 2074.”
The panel revealed so much about the show when it was on. The show was originally supposed to be centered around Leslie and Ann’s friendship. Many of the great lines on the show were improvised. Aubrey takes credit for April and Andy’s relationship and said she decided to act into Chris’ character so they would be written as a couple.
Fans will have to just keep rewatching old episodes of Parks and Rec for now.
