Just when you thought celebrity couple Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were the perfect pair, Turner opens up to The Sunday Times about their near split in an interview about surviving teen fame.
Not long before their flash wedding in Vegas, Turner and Jonas both experienced the tingling sensation of cold feet and secretly split for 24 hours. About their split of 24 hours, Turner told The Sunday Times, “It was the worst day of our lives. For a second we both had cold feet, then 24 hours later we were both like, Nevermind”. So instead of calling off the wedding, Turner and Jonas flipped the script and decided to have an impromptu wedding in A Little White Chapel located in Las Vegas. Famous for its wedding drive-thru, known as the 24-hour Tunnel of Love, as well as its iconic pink Cadillac, Turner and Jonas paid for a ceremony in the Chapel L’Amour as part of a package deal for an approximate of $600 according to the daily mail. The Vegas wedding took place on May 1, 2019, after The Jonas Brothers performed during the Billboard Music Awards held in Vegas earlier that evening. Despite being short notice, Turner’s Game of Thrones costar Maisie Williams was there to serve as a bridesmaid, as were both Kevin and Nick Jonas to serve as groomsmen in the last minute ceremony.
In her interview with The Sunday Times, Turner opened up further about her and Jonas’s relationship struggles and successes. Turner recounted that, when she first met Jonas in 2016, she was mentally unwell and obsessing over her caloric intake. While she eventually sought treatment, she credited Jonas with saving her life. Turner said that Jonas gave her the tough words she needed to hear to turn her life around – “He was like, “I can’t be with you until you love yourself, I can’t see you love me more than you love yourself.” Turner went on to say, “That was something, him doing that. I think he kind of saved my life, in a way.”
