10 Not-So-Boring Things To Do On A Rainy Day

Rainy days don’t have to get you down in the dumps! Being forced to stay indoors on a rainy day can actually be a good thing — it can force you to be productive with tasks you’ve bee putting off, or even force you to dedicate a day to just relax. Check out these 10 things to do on the next rainy day that will actually — dare we say — have you wanting more.

#1 – Paint Canvases

Gather up some paint, paintbrushes, and a canvas, and then head over to Pinterest to find some painting inspo. You’ll probably surprise yourself with how creative you can get! This is especially a good idea if a holiday/someone’s birthday is coming up because hand-made gifts are always a win.

#2 – DIY Spa Day

Draw a hot bubble bath, throw on a face mask, slather on a hair mask, paint your nails, do whatever it is that’ll make you feel relaxed and rejuvenated — you can be as fancy or as simple as you want. Everyone deserves a day of total pampering, and there’s no better time than a lousy rainy day.

#3 – Try Out New Recipe(s)

You can use this nifty website where you enter in the ingredients you have laying around, and it’ll give you recipes you can make with those ingredients. And, if your creation is a total flop, you can always order takeout to be delivered to you!

#4 – Deep Clean Your Closet

We all have clothes sitting in our closet that we haven’t worn in years but for some reason just don’t want to get rid of. Use your next rainy day to finally get rid of those clothes — you’ll feel totally refreshed with all the extra room in your now tidy closet. Plus, you can even make a couple of bucks if you choose to sell your clothes on Poshmark or at Plato’s Closet.

#5 – Binge-Watch Like A Pro

Have you been wanting to watch that new Netflix series that everyone is raving about? Or, are you craving a 90’s rom-com movie marathon? Whatever you’re in the mood for, rainy days are the absolute perfect excuse to get your coziest blanket, curl up in bed, and unapologetically binge-watch.

#6 – Get Creative With Makeup

Knowing you’re not going to be leaving the house is the perfect opportunity to try out a crazy makeup look you’ve seen on a celebrity or your fave beauty vlogger. Head over to Youtube and find a tutorial for a makeup look you’ve never tried and just go for it! Worst case scenario, you look like a clown and you instantly wash it off (but not before sending some hilarious makeup-fail pics to your girlfriends).

#7 – Write A List Of Goals

Rainy days can really get your creative juices flowing which can be the perfect chance to sit down and think about some personal goals. Really take some time to think, then write down some short-term and long-term goals that you have for yourself. Stick this list of goals someplace where you’ll see it every day, which will remind you to hold yourself accountable.

#8 – Purge Your Social Media

Do you find yourself scrolling through social media and seeing posts from people you haven’t spoken to in years? Use a rainy day to thoroughly purge your social media — unfollow people you don’t talk to anymore, people who post negative content, people who post every two seconds, or people you quite frankly just don’t care about anymore. You can also set some screen time limitations for yourself in your iPhone Settings, which can limit your social media use throughout the day altogether.

#9 – Catch Up With Everyone You Miss

Whether it’s your grandparents or a friend you’ve been missing, take time to call them up and see how they’re doing. Chances are they’re missing you too, and would love to catch up equally as much! Talking to someone you haven’t talked to in a while will instantly put you in a great mood and throw away any rainy-day blues.

#10 – Get Around To That One Task You’ve Been Pushing Off

Yes, that one. Is it dusting? Bills? Cleaning out that one ginormous junk drawer? Just do it!!! On a rainy day, there’s usually nothing better to do, so why not just get this one task that’s been haunting you in the back of your mind over and done with?! Trust us, after doing it, you will feel so relieved.
