7 Easy Drinks to Make for National Tequila Day

With National Tequila Day coming around the corner falling on July 24th, below are a list of compiled drinks to make to celebrate the special occasion. Whether tequila is your regular drink of choice or only consumed on a rarity, these drinks are perfect for anyone down to celebrate the occasion in the only way possible. Tequila, Tequila, Tequila.


1. The OG Margarita

One can never go wrong with the classic tequila cocktail, a simple margarita. The recipe is to the point and comprised of simple ingredients that will never steer you wrong.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 ounces tequila
  • 1-ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • ½ ounce agave syrup

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice, shake to chill, and strain over fresh ice. Salt garnish optional.


2. Tequila Negroni

A little more sophisticated than your typical mixed drink, the Tequila Negroni is sure to get heads turning. With a fresh orange slice thrown in with tequila gold, you are bound to look classy while sipping.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ounce Campari
  • 1 ounce sweet red vermouth
  • 1 ounce tequila

Combine all ingredients in a lowball glass with ice, stir to chill, and dilute slightly.

Typical Old Fashioned’s are made me a dark bourbon, but this Old Fashioned is strictly tequila-based. While still including the regular bitters and agave, this drink is a little less on the smokey side and more on the smooth side.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 ounces anejo tequila
  • 1/4 ounce simple syrup of agave
  • 1 dash angostura bitters

If you are an avid bar attendee you probably hear the word Paloma tossed around occasionally amongst bartenders. Not only is this drink refreshing with accents of grapefruit and lime, but it is simple to make and can be served in a tall glass.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ounce blanco Tequila
  • 1 ounce grapefruit soda
  • Fresh lime juice

DIRECTIONS:

Combine tequila and lime juice in a highball glass with ice and a salted rim. Add grapefruit soda and garnish with a grapefruit slice.


5. Tequila don Coco

If Tequila isn’t your regular go-to liquor of choice, this is the drink for you. This dessert cocktail is sure to get your senses tingling with tastes of coconut and cocoa mixture that make a for a decadent texture of flavors.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • 1 ounce cocoa liqueur
  • 1 ounce coconut liqueur

DIRECTIONS:

Pour ingredients into a mixing glass, add ice, and stir gently. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a speared piece of amaranth.


6. Baja Gold

In addition to the Tequila don Coco, if you are looking for a drink that will bring you all the sweetness and tastes of pineapple, it is best to indulge in the Baja Gold.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 ounces Resposado tequila
  • .75 ounce pineapple juice
  • .5 ounce agave syrup

DIRECTIONS:

Combine ingredients into a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled coupe, and garnish with lime if you have it.


7. Mexican Mule

Last but not least, the Mexican Mule is a twist on the classic Moscow but made with tequila instead of gin as the liquor for a base. This refreshing cocktail is best served in a copper mug, but the ginger beer is really what separates this drink from the rest.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 ½ ounces tequila
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • 3 ounces ginger beer

DIRECTIONS:
