Lashana Lynch: The First Black Woman to Play 007

Yes, #BlackGirlMagic! Congratulations to 31-year old British actress, Lashana Lynch who was recently cast in the new James Bond movie. This movie will be the 25th film within the James Bond franchise and will also star Billy Magnusse, Dali Benssalah, Rory Kinnear, Naomie Harris, and Jeffrey Wright, to name a few. Of course, Daniel Craig will continue to play his reprising role as James Bond but, it’s Lynch who will captivate the audience. She will be starring as a new secret agent, as well as taking over his famous codename: 007.

At the beginning of the movie, fans will be surprised to find out that Bond has retired from the agency when suddenly, a new crisis emerges, and he is called back in for duty. Sources say, “There is a pivotal scene in the movie where M says, ‘Come in, 007.’ and this is where Lynch walks in, showcasing that not only is she a woman but, she’s black and beautiful.” This will be considered the “popcorn dropping moment” of the entire film. Of course, Bond is sexually attracted to her and tries to seduce her with his classic, flirtatious moves, but, Lynch’s character, Nomi aka 007, isn’t falling for it. She clearly shows how uninterested she is in sleeping with him and even gives him a little attitude by rolling her eyes at some of his statements. Not only is Bond confused as to why his seduction tricks haven’t made Nomi budge but, remember in Die Another Day where Halle Berry played one of the “Bond girls” as Giacinta “Jinx” Johnson? Well, now the “Bond girls” have been removed from the film and are now called, the “Bond women.”

Lynch, who recently starred in Captain Marvel, will be the first black woman to take on the 007 role. The upcoming and untitled film will be released in April 2020.
