1. Eerie
This film was released in March of this year and has made quite the impression among its viewers. The film centers around a clairvoyant guidance counselor at an all-girls catholic school. After students report being haunted by a former deceased student of the school, counselor Patricia tries to solve the mystery of the gruesome suicide.
Despite being produced in the Philippines, the film has a massive twitter presence with horror enthusiasts everywhere vouching for the movie and admitting to needing to sleep with their lights on.
2. Hush
This film was released in March of 2016 and follows the quiet life of a deaf writer who lives in a wooden lodge in the forest full of glass windows. (Nothing can possibly go wrong!) On one faithful night, a murderer has appeared at the writer’s house, searching for ways to get a hold of the protagonist as she silently fights for survival. If thrillers and gruesome deaths are you and your beau’s thing, you may enjoy this film!
3. The Conjuring
4. The Open House
This 2018 film is a haunting thriller, not because of this but because of the unshakeable feeling of discomfort you feel after watching it. The film documents a mother and son moving to a new house while being subtly stalked. The movie starts slow, then picks up speed with a ton of violence.
5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
When making a horror movie list, you must include a slasher flick (it’s mandatory). This movie is inspired by real-life events, which is always something that adds to the thrill of a horror movie. This film follows a group of friends being terrorized by a psychopath with a chainsaw during an epic fight for survival against evil.
6. Insidious
The first in its franchise, this movie begins the epic and frightening tale of a boy being lured into a demonic dimension by the same evil entity that once tried to steal his father’s soul. The film is packed with tons of insanely creepy imagery and eerie soundtrack to boot. It’s an absolute must-watch to follow the rest of the terrifying sequels.
