Robert Pattinson Was “F****** Furious” After Batman Casting Leak

Robert Pattinson admitted to being “f****** furious” in the newest issue of Variety after casting news leaked for Matt Reeves’ upcoming superhero film, The Batman.

The 33-year-old was on his way to the Cannes Film Festival in May when the story leaked to the press. The star revealed during the interview,

“When that thing leaked, I was f–king furious. Everyone was so upset. Everyone was panicking from my team. I sort of thought that had blown up the whole thing. It was terrifying. I was like, ‘Oh f–k! Does that screw me because they are so intent on secrecy?’”

The actor admitted to googling himself profusely for the rest of the flight to figure out if he was cut from the cast list. Ironically enough, it wasn’t until the middle of his filming for Christopher Nolan’s Tenet that he got the call about getting the part of Bruce Wayne.

The Batman is Warner Bros highly anticipated reboot of the caped vigilante’s story that we’ve come to know and love. Growing up favoring Batman, Pattinson was not above chasing the role of Bruce Wayne. The actor relentlessly poked and prodded Reeves for a crack at the part. Pattinson gushes about his experience while auditioning for the role,

“I put it on [the suit]. I remember saying to Matt, ‘It does feel quite transformative!’ He was like, ‘I would hope it does! You’re literally in the Batsuit.’ You do feel very powerful immediately.”

The news of his casting came as a relief to the Twilight veteran, but many fans were skeptical of his ability to play the role. Having the part of Edward Cullen in a film that has gone down in history for being one of the worst, Pattinson acknowledges fans’ disapproval for the casting.

“To be honest, it was less vitriolic than I was expecting. It’s much more fun when you’re an underdog. There’s no expectation of you.”

The Batman is set to premiere in theaters June 2021.
