What We Know About Season 4 of Stranger Things

As of September 30, it’s been announced that Stranger Things is in fact coming back with a fourth season.

When Will It Be Released?

Although they don’t start filming until October 2019, here’s what we can conclude to expect in the upcoming episodes based on the previous three seasons. It’s predicted to have around 8 episodes and possibly take place in 1986, considering the past seasons were set in ’83, ’84, and ’85. There’s no set release date, but we can guess it will be whenever the season takes place of next year since the past season were released at the time they took place as well.

Who Is Coming Back?

At the very end of Season 3, we are told Hopper died in a fire after the machine had exploded in the underground Russian “lair.” However, we didn’t physically see him die which raises speculation that he’s making a comeback. We may not have the exact answer, but David Harbour throwing hints via social media helps us get a little closer to finding out. Fans have caught on to his cleverness as he uploads posts relating to the “Sunflower. Rainbow. Three to the right, four to the left. 450” combination Eleven’s mom chants in Season 2.

As far as the rest of the cast members, we can expect to see the same original friend group appear in Season 4 along with Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, and Natalia Dyer, as well as faces we were introduced to in Season 3 such as Priah Ferguson and Maya Hawke.

What’s The Storyline?

With the Byers’ leaving Hawkins, Indiana and Eleven losing her powers, there is suspense to how she will regain them and the relationship between the Byers’ and Eleven with everyone back in Hawkins. What’s in store for Mike and El if she leaves Hawkins? Will Nancy and Jonathan make things work while their lives as college students begin?

Some answers might be found from the cast members speaking out about the new season in recent interviews and their social media profiles. “I know that I might have a separate storyline from everyone else, so we might be filming, like, in another place,” Noach Schnapp who plays Will Byers had admitted to Entertainment Tonight.

The Duffer Brothers, creators of the show, had also spoke to Entertainment Tonight, and mentioned, “Season 4 is going to open up a little bit, not necessarily in terms of scale, in terms of special effects, but open up in terms of allowing plotlines into areas outside of Hawkins.”
