Okay, we all know exactly what hairstyle I’m talking about. The one with high volume roots and then flips out on of the ends. The one that defined Jackie Onassis. The one that Rachel Green rocked mid 90’s. The one that was styled for Kim Kardashian West‘s Skims campaign. I’m going to go ahead and say you get the picture now.
Although it appeared in the 60’s, it has often made comebacks since then in an evolved and improved way making it a timeless look in the world of beauty.

It gives ‘an old Hollywood’ feel with a modern twist whether you decide to pull the look off in a ponytail, half-up half-down, or just letting it down in a middle part. Hairstylist, Justine Marjan, expresses her admiration for the look saying, “a reiteration of the ’90s version of a ’60s-era hairstyle…it feels cute and sexy at the same time.” A tip she recommends considering when trying the look for yourself is to not try and flip the whole pony at once because it’s more likely to fall straight. Not cute!
It’s such an easy way to add style to either a casual vibe or completely glam look, and can be achieved through any hair type! It’s considered to be such a classic because it combines old and new trends making it fresh but familiar. There’s no reason to not try it out for yourself!
You can definitely play even further and add accessories like hair clips and headbands which are a major trend right now, and make the flip soft or more intense to add drama depending on the look you’re going for.
