Air Jordan and Dior have jumped on the luxury-meets-sportswear bandwagon and created the Air Dior shoe, joining other brands and luxury labels, like Prada and Adidas, that have collaborated to create luxurious sneakers.
The sneaker made its debut in Miami during the Dior Homme pre-fall 2020 runway show and stood out among the layers of prints and bucket hats of the collection, Elle reports.
The soles are transparent and one foot has the Air Dior logo and the jumpman wings while the other only has “Dior.”

“I chose to collaborate with Jordan Brand because Christian Dior collaborated with the best American brands of his era,” Kim Jones, artistic director of Dior Men’s told WWD. “I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas — Dior and Jordan Brand are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new.”
The sneaker is expected to hit stores on April 2020. The price and whether it will be available on women’s sizing is still unknown, Elle reports.
“I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas — and Jordan Brand and Maison Dior are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields,” said Jones on a Nike press release. “To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new.”
Nike said that “with this partnership, the different cultures of America and France and of haute couture and high-performance sportswear are drawn together, unified and then blended to create a new hybrid look.”
“Every collaboration we do starts from a genuine connection and desire to expand the dimensions of each brand through creativity and design innovation,” said Martin Lotti, Jordan Brand VP of Design in a press release. “Our partnership with Maison Dior will offer a new look into the style of basketball and blend high-end streetwear with luxury fashion. We will pay homage to both brands’ rich iconography and draw inspiration from our heritage.”
