Monday, December 9, Monday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had announced the nominations for the 2020 Golden Globe Awards. Stars like Jennifer Anniston and Reese Witherspoon were recognized for their iconic roles in television this year, however, there are many that went completely unnoticed and fans are not having it.

Euphoria was undoubtedly one of the biggest shows of the year. But the part of Rue Bennett, portrayed by Zendaya, was not listed among many in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Drama Series category. Instead, Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show, Olivia Colman for The Crown, Jodie Comer for Killing Eve, Nicole Kidman for Big Little Lies, and Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show are competing for the win. Fans are exploding on Twitter in defense of Zendaya’s incredible job on the show.

Lupita Nyong’o

The actress had taken a major snub after already receiving many awards and praise for her role in Us, but had failed to make it to the list of Golden Globes nominees. Fans were shocked by her exclusion from Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Motion Picture category. Instead the nominations included Cynthia Erivo for Harriet Tubman, Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story, Saoirse Ronan for Little Women, Charlize Theron for Bombshell, and Renée Zellweger for Judy.
The absence of Lupita Nyong'o for Us is just astounding.
Playing both "Red" and "Adelaide" as so distinctive yet connected to the point that we weren't sure which was which is a performance I'll never forget.
It's depressing that the #GoldenGlobes did. pic.twitter.com/oADiZQPSIe

When They See Us

Not only did Jharrel Jerome get snubbed, but When They See Us was ignored altogether by the Golden Globes. This was a surprise as the miniseries had been so successful, including receiving the second most nominations of any tv series at the Emmy’s in September. The Limited Series Or TV Movie category had absolutely no mention of the sort.
i know this is my fault i should go into every year expecting disappointment but GOD even when they see us got snubbed this house is a nightmare pic.twitter.com/H2nGbZc7tH

Robert De Niro

The Best Actor nomination lineup did not include Robert De Niro for his role in The Irishman. What’s interesting is his co-stars Al Pacino and Joe Pesci were recognized for supporting actors as well as Scorsese for best director. Maybe the Oscars?

Constance Wu

Hustlers made a wildly successful hit this year starring Jennifer Lopez, Lili Reinhart, Cardi B, and Constance Wu. Based on a true story, these women made an incredible effort in portraying their story, however, one was totally snubbed by the HFPA. Wu is a great actress who has also been famously known for her role in Crazy Rich Asians, but is sadly someone we won’t be seeing this January for any personal award. People are hurt that her emotional and brilliant scenes are being ignored and handed to others.
