Well, ladies, we’re heading right into spring jacket season. This ordinarily isn’t ideal for my sun-loving self. My ranking of the seasons puts shorts weather way ahead of jacket season. Then again, jacket season outranks coat season, which I’ve been smack dab in the middle of for months now. So let’s talk jackets, shall we? Some jackets are investment pieces, some are trendy toppers to wear a few times and then tire of. Here’s how it breaks down.
Leather jacket: This is the most obvious splurge. There is nothing better than a perfect jacket in a fabulous leather. Sorry to all the vegans and animal lovers out there, but leather jackets are absolutely essential in my book. But here’s the thing – only splurge on a real one when you’re sure you’ve found the one. It’s like how you should never be an engagement ring about someone you’re not really sure about. You can satisfy your need for the look with a faux until you find your perfect real leather jacket….but I’ll warn you, the real thing just looks and feels way better.
Sequin jacket: First of all, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY OWN A SEQUIN JACKET. Whether it’s a looser blazer or a cropped bolero or something in between, it’ll ad so much flair to any outfit. But don’t break the bank on this one – it’s a fun item and the price tag should be fun too.
Denim jacket: Save on this one. Your denim topper will just look better and better as it starts falling apart.
Varsity jacket: These are so cute and soooo comfy, but you probably shouldn’t shell out a lot of cash for one. It’s just so recognizable that you may start to feel like an outfit repeater if you wear it too much. And let’s face it, it’s a pretty damn trendy item.
Black blazer: spend some dough on this one. Find one in a really beautiful fabric and wear it forever.
