A few nights ago, I was scrolling down my timeline AKA Tumblr stalking my crush when I came across a series of screenshots from Twitter with the hashtag #MeninistTwitter. I was intrigued. I logged onto my respective account and did a little bit of digging. Apparently, guys have a list of demands that just aren’t being fulfilled. As a gender, we’ve come very far in terms of speaking up on what we want and standing for what’s right – in the boardroom, in the household and everywhere else in between.
Garnet wrote a story on feminism a while back and noted that it’s a “complex movement, with many different branches, and an imperfect history.” She defines feminism as the act of “empowering women and ensuring that women and men receive equal treatment and equal opportunities.” It looks like the men of Twitter are doing the same thing for their gender as well.
Most of these tweets are in jest, I think. And I can’t lie…I chucked at a few. But are their demands too outlandish? Fair? Or just meant to be funny? You be the judge.
