We’re Here for the Right Reasons: Bachelorette Recap, Season 10, Episodes 3 and 4

This week, ABC gave us 2 episodes of The Bachelorette back to back. Truly, I have no idea what they did this, but it wasn’t as tedious as I thought it would be!
Now, let’s recap these 4 hours!
For our first of many one on one dates, we get Nick. So far, I like him. He kind of seems like a big nerd, but I like that. He’s also one of the first guys I’ve heard say, “Let’s be honest, I don’t know her, she doesn’t know me. What are the odds this is going to work out?” A lot of the guys say this makes him a pessimist, but I think it’s natural way to feel. They had a pretty adorable date, but I’m still fairly certain she’s going to break his heart.
This week’s group date is quite possibly the most cringe worthy thing I’ve yet to see on this show. None of these poor dudes can carry a tune even a little bit. But they sure do give it their all!
This is also the first time I’ve ever kind of liked Cody. He also at one point during the show took her aside and said, “Whatever happens, this is an amazing experience.” I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say that before. What a sweet little ‘roided out munchkin!
It’s weird that Josh M. hasn’t had a one on one date, right? Or is it not because he is SO winning the show. He just wins. His Disney prince face when he stares at her and tells her how nervous she makes him, and how he wants to see her every day. I mean, come on. Andi LOVES him. Go home, everyone else. The victor is clear!
Next we get a cute (?) old people date with JJ. Am I the only one who felt weird that they kept tricking a bunch of strangers about their identities? I do know this date made me really like JJ. I don’t see them as a match, but I am rather fond of him.
Ron ends up having to go home due to a death of a close friend, and I feel incredibly sad for him. He was one of my front-runners. But I love that he left, it’s not the right space to be when you’re grieving someone. Respect, Ron. All of the respect.
At the rose ceremony, Nick sends Andi flowers… From the mansion. AMAZING move. How come this hasn’t happened before? And where can I find these men who deliver flowers after a first date with a long hand written note?
But on that note, I appreciate that this show at least gives us a balance of amazing dudes who will send you flowers after a first date, and dudes who will pick up other chicks when you go to the bathroom. Did this dude not think this would get brought up? So, so icky. I’m not sure why none of the guys told Andi that this happened. It’s very scummy.
I am depressed that he stayed, but I imagine that will get more drama soon enough. I am seriously depressed that she got rid of another big sexy with the beard. Why you gotta discriminate, Andi!
Now, on to week 2!
This second episode begins with them starting their trip around the world in…. Connecticut… I mean I am from New England y’all I’m not trying to hate. But how disappointed would I be if I made it to week 4 and then we just went to CT? At least go to Vermont or something I mean yeesh.
Dylan could be a pretty sweet guy. I’m actually not sure why he’s here. He’s super cute, funny, and seems to be pretty caring… But he clearly hates being on TV. He keeps telling her how awkward he is and nervous. I get that he wanted to share this sad story with her, I really do, but I think it’s a shame that that is all he seems to be. Yes, these tragic stories play into who we are as people, but there’s a Dylan that exists outside of that. Maybe the producers pushed him into this. All I know is the date didn’t get any less awkward after he “opened up,” and I was shocked she gave him a rose.
Next, we get my ideal group date. Ladies, is there anything better than watching dudes in their element? I think NOT! No dressing up, no singing, just some good ol’ fashioned basketball. Though I’m not sure how intense it was since at half time the score was 6-6. Say what?
I have to say, however, as fun as it is to watch boys play sports, there is nothing worse than watching a grown man sulk because he loses a game. #crybabies #cheerupJosh.
The final one on one date is with Marcus. While The Bachelor franchise loves a good repel, bungee jump, etc. as a metaphor for falling into love—this repelling shit on the side of the building looks legitimately terrifying. And this is also the first time that I’ve felt like a dude actually helped her. When Marcus said “Honey you’re okay look at me don’t look down” I even felt a little more safe! That was some legitimate fear, y’all.
Finally, we get the drama ABC has ben promising for weeks. Eric really laid down the law… And I kind of loved it. I think he had such a great point. Was it a little harsh to call her an actress? Yes. But he has opened up to her and told her a lot of things—that’s not the problem here. I think the poor guy was just trying to say you’re not comfortable with me. I want to fix it. And homegirl FLIPPED! I felt equally bad for the poor dudes who had to handle the brunt of that anger.
That drama was definitely not what I was expecting, so well played, ABC. I also love how they ended the show with a tribute to Eric; it would have been a wrong move to end his time on the show with that argument.
Next week we continue to travel the world and hopefully Josh M. will get a one-on-one and they will just leave the show together and elope! I can only hope…
