Footage of Britney and Rihanna’s 2011 Billboard performance of “S&M” leaked. Wow. Rihanna literally doesn’t care about her music. She just smokes blunts all day and looks fabulous. She turns up to the studio lays down some vocals with her limited-ass range and enjoys the fruits of her labor. Swag. Britney, bless her, obviously no longer wants to be famous and just shows up to fulfill her contracts. These ladies are just going through the motions, no matter what talent they do have, it’s completely under utilized and they are so over it.
The Rehearsal

To quote ONTD, “Britney looked like she just woke up from a four-day bender and Rihanna like she was still in the middle of one.” Rihanna appears on stage wearing sunglasses the entire time for some reason and acts out the very simplistic choreography in slow motion. Rihanna’s IDGAF attitude is part of her appeal to me, her music and image are manufactured, but her personality and choices have always been her own. Yet, her utter lack of interest in her own actual performance is both funny and obnoxious.
Homegirl looks like she took too many benadryl tablets, snatched a weave from Walmart and accidentally handcuffed herself to herself. This is just a rehearsal, yes, but the actual performance is only marginally better. Then Britney (and I love me some Godney) shows up with some two-dollar bunny mask you get at third grade Halloween parties, and even though Rihanna was singing live, Britney lip syncs and acts as though she has never met Rihanna before. There is no chemistry. I know Godney doesn’t sing live and I am not throwing shade on her ability to turn out live performances with that crispy, CD, Dolby-Digital sound but Rihanna’s live vocals are such a stark contrast. Neither of these women are having a good time, they’d both rather be doing something else and the choreography is just—it’s like that time I joined the Step Club for 3 minutes but quit because I was too uncoordinated.
