There’s been some debate recently about whether Kendall, the model formerly known as Jenner, is helped or hurt by her famous pedigree. She argues that her reality TV affiliation hurt her chances as a ‘serious’ model; others shoot back and argue that they bolstered her career. Whichever side of that debate you’re on, one thing is clear: This leggy lady is taking the fashion world by storm.
There are tons of people who say Kendall is succeeding as a model because she hit the lottery by being born into a very famous family – but I say even more than that, Kendall is succeeding because she hit the genetic lottery, one that made her ridiculously good-looking. That hair, the height, the body, the face – there’s no doubt that Kendall is one beautiful young lady. But simply being gorgeous doesn’t make someone a great model, which is why I reserved judgement before praising her skills. Now that she’s walked in a many shows and appeared in tons of campaigns, I’ve made up mind.
The verdict? This girl can model. She has the edginess, the intensity, the focus that you need to make it in a seriously tough industry. She screams high fashion and she seems to take the gig very seriously. And while rumor says her ultimate goal is to walk in a Victoria’s Secret show, I think the couture love she’s been getting is so much more her speed; she has that high-end fashion presence that so many more ‘commercial models’ would absolutely kill for, as evidenced by reruns of America’s Next Top Model.
I’ve compiled some shots of Kendall walking Fashion Week runways. I think girlfriend has a great future ahead of her and while I can’t say that she certainly would have made it had she not been related to the Kardashians, I can say that even without her reality fame, I believe she would have deserved to be where she is now.
