By now you’ve probably heard that Ryan Reynolds was mowed down by paparazzi on Sunday in Vancouver. Thankfully, the hot new dad wasn’t injured. Here are other celeb/paparazzi encounters that didn’t turn out so well:
1. Britney Spears, 2007

Arguably the most infamous showdown of all time happened over eight years ago when pop star Britney Spears was in between stints at rehab. After asking for privacy, Spears took an umbrella and attacked the photographer’s car. Luckily she recovered and everyone forgot about that already. Well, almost.
Winner: Britney. Because we still love her and I couldn’t even tell you the paparazzo’s name.
2. Kanye West, 2008

The rapper was charged with three misdemeanor counts of vandalism, battery and grand theft after breaking a paparazzo’s camera at LAX. The charges were eventually dropped but he agreed to 50 hours of community service as part of the deal. When isn’t Kanye not being a douche?
Winner: Paparazzo. Because Kanye sucks.
3. Chris Martin, 2008

Although Gwyneth Paltrow didn’t seem too bothered by the cameras as she walked to her car, apparently her husband at the time, Chris Marin thought otherwise. The Coldplay singer threw the paparazzo to the ground and stole his camera.
Winner: Chris Martin, for obvious reasons.
4. Matthew McConaughey and friends, 2008

While trying to catch a glimpse of the gloriously tanned and always shirtless Matthew McConaughey, territorial surfers bombarded the photogs by saying, “We’ll fight for the beach!” When a paparazzo defends his profession by asking what the surfers do for a living, one declares, “I f—— drink beer and party!”
Winner: No one. Society loses.
5. Justin Bieber, 2012

The then 18-year-old superstar was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol and cited for reckless driving on a Los Angeles freeway. Bieber told police he was speeding because he was attempting to get away from paparazzi. Later the exact same day, Bieber called 911 for help when paparazzi began chasing him again. One of the paparazzo involved in the incident was later charged with four misdemeanor counts under California’s anti-paparazzi law.
