Earlier this week, Caitlyn Jenner made her first public debut on the cover of Vanity Fair’s July issue and everyone’s mind was collectively BLOWN!
We could tell she looked fierce and felt free, but one question on everyone’s mind was why she chose to use a “C” name instead of a “K” name to go along with the Kardashian-Jenner family tradition?

Some people believed this to be slight dig at momager Kris Jenner. While others seemed to be quite disappointed with Jenner’s name choice.

From getting her ATM card confiscated by Kris to not even having the opportunity to have her own storage space in her own home, it’s no surprise that a lot of the time, within the Kardashian-Jenner household, Caitlyn was treated less than fairly.

Caitlyn stated that she felt a strong lack of respect in her home. In her interview with Vanity Fair, she said that she decided to split from Kris because she thought that, “In a lot of ways she became less tolerant of me. A lot of times she wasn’t very nice. People would see how I got mistreated. She controlled the money. All that kind of stuff.”
In addition to this, she also stated, “This whole thing – the one real true story in the family – was the one I was hiding and nobody knew about it. The one thing that could make a difference in people’s lives was right here in my soul, and I could not tell that story.”

What a lot of people have generally concluded about Caitlyn’s name choice has been that she basically decided on her name because she wanted to liberate herself from the Kardashian empire completely. The name choice just shows her transition into the person she has always wanted to be, which was to have her own identity as an independent woman in the world and finally get her chance to express herself and her truth. There is certainly no bad blood between Caitlyn and the Kardashian family. It was just all about Caitlyn’s trying to be her own person.
