If you were one of the lucky music festival goers to enjoy Bonnaroo in Tennessee over the past four days, you might have spotted four ladies who appeared to be a little older than the rest of the up-all-night ravers and silent disco-ers. But their age doesn’t stop them from having an awesome time, including being arguably the most sought-after photo op on the Farm (not counting scoring a selfie with Billy Joel himself).
Mary Neiderhauser, 85, and her friends pals Laddie Neil, 86, Alice Ann Barge, 88, and Nancy Lee Pitts, 90, collectively known as the Bonnagrannies, have attended Bonnaroo Music Festival together every year since 2013. Niederhauser had invited her friends to come stay at her home in Manchester and attend the annual Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, which she received tickets to through her community involvement.
However, this year, those freebies weren’t available. Luckily, the Bonnagrannies’ grand-children/social media team took to Twitter and Bonnaroo offered the grey-haired music lovers VIP tickets (read: air conditioning and no port-a-potties).
Armed with some glittery thrift store cowboy hats and red shirts that read #bonnagrannies, these rock stars in their own right were stars of the fest, posing for pictures and even getting interviewed by media outlets.
Though they forgo the tent to sleep at Neiderhauser’s place nearby, their bed time isn’t early. The Bonnagrannies partied until 3 am on Saturday.
See you on the Farm next year, Bonnagrannies! We see you’ve found the secret to staying young.
