The subway isn’t exactly a fun time to begin with, but when you get into a car and notice a mariachi band or guy with a guitar as the doors slam shut behind you, there’s not really a worse feeling. You’re just trying to get home and listen to some Tori Kelly on Spotify, but nope, you’re not going to get away with it that easily. Instead, you just keep your head down and ignore everyone around you until your stop.
Brandy have starred in Moesha in the 90s. She might have climbed up the charts with her with Monica, “The Boy Is Mine.” She might be starring in Chicago on Broadway right now, where people pay hundreds to hear her belt it out, but these New Yorkers gave her the same treatment as most other subway singers on a recent underground ride. After treating her unsuspecting audience to a free show while incognito in sunglasses and a hoodie, she was rewarded with…nada.
