Science Has Given Us A Justification To Loving The Dad Bod

If you are someone who questions why the dad bod has become such a popular fad among the good people of Generation Y, we finally have an answer for you. Yup, that’s right, we now kind of know exactly why we’re obsessed with the dad bod. Thanks to science, we can finally justify our weird fixation on our favorite big bellied fellas.
The American Journal Of Men’s Health decided it was time to do a study on how men’s bodies change based on their age and whether or not they have kids. They took a group of men, starting at age 12, and over the course of up to 20 years watched how their BMIs changed based on if they had children or if they did not and if they lived with the children versus living apart.
TIME reported that the study concluded that regardless of living with the kids, an average 6-foot-tall father weighs up to 4 pounds more over the span of those 20 years. Dudes without kids ended up losing 1.4 pounds over the time span.
The reason behind the weight gain was because men with kids are more prone to munch on their children’s unhealthy snacks and leftovers while men without kids are not. Getting more good nights of sleep and more time for exercise factored into the childless guy’s results as well.
What this really all means is that us girls must be more attracted to guys with a little extra cushion for the pushin’ because they actually seem to care more about their babies than their bods. Woah, never saw that coming, did you? It does make sense, so I guess we can thank science once again for the logical justification.
