Diplo & Skrillex Record A New Album With Arcade Fire

Diplo has recently confirmed via an interview with Charlie Rose on his PBS chat show that he is working on music with Canadian-based band Arcade Fire and Skrillex.
Win Butler, the lead singer of Arcade Fire, responded to a tweet featuring photos of Win Butler and Régine Chassange together with Jack Ü (Diplo and Skrillex) at what appeared to be Arcade Fire’s Sonovox Studio. He tweeted, denying ArcadeFiretube’s speculation:

Diplo stated in the same interview that the musicians recorded an album’s worth of music and that he was editing the audio. He said, “We went to [his friend’s] garage and just literally played for 20 minutes, just everybody on an instrument. I got the files from them, and now I edit it down these loops in little pieces. … I’m probably going to go back to Montreal with the lead singer, Win, and maybe Sonny (Skrillex) and record vocals on it.”
It’s certainly not a collaboration I would have foreseen. But, Arcade Fire is a band that is unafraid to take musical risks. This collaboration with Jack Ü further demonstrates that creative fearlessness that so many indie bands today lack. I can’t say I was a giant fan of Arcade Fire’s most recent record, Reflektor, nor am I a fan of Jack Ü, but I am certainly interested to see what this new album has in store.
