Show me your Facebook feed and I’ll tell you where you are in life. If it’s filled with awkward school dance photos, you’re in high school; if it’s chock full of girls in LBDs downing shots, you’re in college; if it’s all engagement announcements every day…welcome to the real world, honey.
If you’re on the cusp of graduating, prepare yourself for some changes – the kind of changes that’ll smack you in the face every time you log in to the ‘book. Consider yourself warned: The following things will almost undoubtedly happen.
1. The pictures of people kissing bottles of flavored Smirnoff will disappear.

Ah, the old kissing-a-bottle-of-raspberry-vodka picture. We’ve all seen it (far too many times) and most of us probably taken this picture at one point or another. But prepare to see these completely vanish – not just from your newsfeed, but from Facebook altogether. People start deleted those things real fast when job searches start happening.
2. Everyone starts dressing differently.

Gone are the sparkly tank tops, the super-short mini skirts and the tight little dresses. Soon enough your newsfeed will be full of photos of your friends looking totally professional – shift dresses, blazers and blouses rule. Expect to see photos of your friends at work events, going to casual brunches, or out to dinner at fancy restaurants. Which brings me to…
3. Food pictures are everywhere.

Once you make it into the real world, chances are you can actually afford to treat yourself to a meal that doesn’t come in a cardboard box once in a while. As a result of this, social media sites will becomes odes to artfully plated bowls of granola-topped Greek yogurt and cute little sushi dishes. It’ll make you hungry every single time.
4. Fitness becomes a (very public) thing.

Guys, that whole metabolism-slowing-down-as-you-age thing? Not a myth. Unless you’re a superhuman, you can’t house pizza all day and expect to fit into your skinny jeans after a certain point and it is a very, very sad thing. People tend to get really into fitness after graduation – expect to see lots of post-Crossfit mirror shots of your friends flashing their biceps. Yes, it’s annoying.
5. Everyone always seems to be traveling.

Once you hit the real world, life gets kind of boring. You probably won’t have be posting pictures every weekend because, well, you don’t get out that much. What really gets post-grads excited, though? Vacations. Prepare to see lots and lots of vacation pics. It’ll seem like everyone is traveling constantly, but that’s only because vacations keep you sane once you get a job. Also because you’re forced to travel all over the place for weddings, so many weddings (more on that below.)
6. You’re constantly bombarded by articles and listicles.

People start caring about what’s happening in the world after college so expect to see lots of news stories about depressing things that are going on in the world but, even more than that, expect to see fun listicles from places like Buzzfeed. The reason for this? Because workday boredom is way too real.
7. Everyone is posting engagement announcements.

Or wedding pictures. Or even pregnancy announcements. It happens super fast and once it starts, it’s pretty much all you’ll see on social media. And that, my friends, is how you know you’re an adult.
