College is a wonderful place to reinvent yourself, meet new people, try new things and, of course, do crazy sh*t. Gone are the days of high school where people would judge you for wearing the “wrong” article of clothing or judging you for listening to something deemed “odd.” College, when you see something weird, you’re almost envious of the individual, frustrated that you didn’t come up with whatever weird idea they’re displaying first.
Tara Monroe, a sister of the Chi Omega sorority at Texas State, is sparking envy in college students across the country.
It began in the aftermath of a Waka Flocka concert. Monroe was pulled over and refused to take a breathalyzer test, leading to an automatic suspension of her driver’s license. Her parents, rightfully furious, took away her car and left her without transportation options.
Why not walk? Or perhaps ride a bike? To quell those questions, Tara said to MySanAntonio.com that “riding a bike around campus sucks. Like really sucks.” She didn’t want to bum rides or take public transport, so she bought, for 60 dollars, a set of new wheels from a little girl named Charlene on Craigslist.
A battery-operated pink Barbie Jeep.
Zooming about campus at a crazy five miles per hour, Monroe has become a celebrity of sorts at the University of Texas. In honor of the little girl who saved the day, Monroe has named her trusty new steed Charlene.
