University Of Louisville Student Sues Escort Who Authored Book She Says Devalues Her Education

What happens when your school gets trashed in a book? After all, if this book gives your college a bad reputation, it might hurt your chances of getting an internship or job someday. One University of Louisville student decided to sue the author of a book she says does just that.
Louisville sophomore Kyle Nicole Hornback has sued escort Katina Powell and her publisher, saying her book, Breaking Cardinal Rules, devalues her education and hurts the university.
In the book, Powell goes into detail about how she was given $10,000 to organize 22 parties where she would “entertain” the university’s basketball players, high school recruits, and their fathers with her two daughters. “They came as a package,” Powell stated, referring to the players and their fathers. She also admitted that most of the time the “entertaining” didn’t stop at stripping – it included having sex with the guests.
Louisville lawyer Nader George Shunnarah told one news site that “the goal here is to benefit students instead of the prostitute.” The suit will be a class action lawsuit that would make the earnings of the book ultimately go towards the U of L students.
Shunnarah told an online site, The Bird Cage, which first reported about the suit, that “when you commit a criminal act and it damages an entire University, your degree, the value of your degree, your ability to pay back student loans, and your ability to get a job,” students should profit, rather than Powell.
Jon Fleischaker said the suit, filed Thursday in Jefferson Circuit Court, is meritless and called it “silly.”
“Whatever you think of Katina Powell, she has a First Amendment right to write about whatever she wants and it appears that at least some of what she wrote is true,” said Fleischaker.
Students seems to be totally supportive of Kyle’s case.
