Get out your “I heart Aaron Samuels” shirts and call your friend Anfernee, ladies and gents. Tina Fey has confirmed that there is a Mean Girls musical in the works, written by – who else? – herself.
Our level of excitement?
Tina confirmed the news to The Huffington Post, admitting, “My husband [composer] Jeff Richmond and I, [along with lyricist] Nell Benjamin, have been working on it.”
Even though she says the project is still years away from completion and we have no idea where to expect to see it (Broadway? A new movie? A live TV special?!), my mind is already racing. The possibilities are endless – a tap number called “Too Gay To Function”? A chorus line of slutty Halloween costumes? An extended Kevin Gnapoor rap?!
The 2004 movie is also getting a spin-off called Mean Moms starring Jennifer Aniston, but the more Mean Girls, the better. Bring it on.
