A Girl And Her Service Dog Got Ready For Prom Together, And It’s Awesome

Erin Condrin lives in Queensland, Australia and has Classical Type Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a tissue disorder that causes fragile skin and loose joints. She’s been working with her dog Lacey since last summer, and now they’re going to prom together.

The teen said Lacey has tons of outfits, including an official service dog vest and a festive Christmas costume. When it came time for their photoshoot, Condrin made sure they had matching outfits.

“Lacey has many different costumes,” Erin told BuzzFeed. “So it was natural she’d have a dress that matched mine. We asked my very talented dressmaker if she’d sew Lacey a skirt out of the left over material from my dress, and she was all for it.”

She felt Lacey would be too nervous to attend the dance since they’ve only been paired together for a few months and it would be loud and crowded with flashing lights, so she only brought her to take photos beforehand. That being said, she hopes to take Lacey to other formal events the more they get to know each other.

“Being a young disabled person can be daunting, but facing the world with an adorable fluffball by my side makes it so much easier,” Erin said.
