Are Snapchat Filters Whitewashing You? Users Say Yes & They’re Pretty Pissed Off About It

One of the best things about Snapchat is their use of filters. We couldn’t get enough of that flower crown (and neither could any celebrity within a six mile radius of Coachella), but despite how much people love them, the popular social media app is under fire for their alleged white washing effect.

Users are slamming Snapchat for various filters that significantly whiten their skin, which first became noticeable with that flower crown add-on. It clearly lightens your eyes, skin, and hair.

Yeah… that’s like looking at two different people. Other users have also started to pick up on the sketchy effect.

Regardless of what you think about the filter, it’s pretty obvious that it does change your skin tone. But is it something to be all up in arms about? That’s up to you. IMO, it reminds me of the Instagram filter that has a similar effect. But that’s just me.
