Elena Gladkikh, a 27-year-old Russian beauty consultant, fell to her death Sunday morning after watching the sunrise from the roof of her Manhattan apartment. Accompanied by her boyfriend, Gladkikh was locked out of her apartment and drinking a six pack at 8:30 A.M. when she called her husband to let her inside. As her boyfriend hid on the roof, Gladkikh waited for her husband on the ledge of the building and was reportedly “dangling her legs over the edge” just before she fell.
Authorities found her outside the building in only her underwear and bra. She was allegedly drunk when she fell from the five-story building at 449 West 37th Street.
According to Daily Mail, Gladkikh got stuck between two buildings after falling, and was trapped until emergency workers arrived to rescue her. In order to reach her, responders had to borrow a ladder from a worker in the area. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.
“This is a bad time,” Gladkikh’s husband told The Post. “My family is here and we’re contacting her family overseas.” There were no signs of criminality or suicide, but a more thorough investigation is still underway.
“She is the sweetest, the most responsible, the most generous and kind, giving person I knew,” said Ellie Calvin, a co-worker at Mary Kay. “I cannot believe God could take her away. She is just an angel.’’
A GoFundMe page has since been set up by her family to help raise money so her body can be brought back to Russia.
