The last episode of Jane The Virgin pulled at fans heartstrings and focused on Xiomara and her relationship with Jane. Xo does, in fact, has cancer and needs surgery to remove it and then treatment. There are multiple surgery options, to just remove the cancer, a single mastectomy, and a double mastectomy. The double is the safest option, and immediately her entire family is team #NoBoobies and is pressuring her to get a double.
Xo realizes that she doesn’t want to lose both breasts and has a defining moment in her relationship with Jane. She relies on Rogelio, her husband on what to do. She never had a partner to lean on during hard times, it was always Jane, but now she does, so things have to change. Jane gracefully handles her mom’s decision to lean on her husband.
Meanwhile, Mateo is having a hard time understanding his relationship with God and praying for his abuela. Rafael isn’t religious AT ALL, but prays with Mateo and helps him understand that praying doesn’t guarantee that abeula will be okay. It’s a real parenting moment for Rafael.
Viewers also got to see a more real side of Petra, a lovesick Petra. She finally woos JR by being herself.
This week JR, Petra, Jane and Rafael go on a double date, and it doesn’t go well. JR ends up not liking Jane, which is a first. We all know how much Jane loves to be liked, so it’ll be interesting to see what she does to win JR over.
