Richard Madden was born in Elderslie, Scotland on June 18, 1986. While growing up with his younger and older sisters, he quickly jumped into an acting career and landed his first role as Sebastion Simpkins in the television show “Barmy Aunt Boomerang” at the age of 11. His first film role came a year later in 2000, with Madden taking on the guise of Young Andy in Complicity. 


2001-2010

Madden briefly took a leave of absence from acting in order to graduate from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in 2007. While attending the Academy, he appeared in several stage productions and began working with Arches and Glasglow Repertory Company, which eventually earned him a spot in the famed Globe Theatre. During his final year before graduation, he landed the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, which was the Globe’s first-ever tour production.
