You think that Riverdale has been intense? It’s going to be more intense. Let’s recap, why don’t we?
First and foremost, it’s about the Black Hood, again. Which to be honest, did he truly leave? Apparently not, or we wouldn’t be dealing with this storyline again. Can they just be happy for a few episodes? Is that too much to ask for? Probably so. Archie’s convinced that he’s out there, so what does Archie do? Be Archie and is going door to door staring into random men’s eyes to find him, which doesn’t talk on the high ‘Im only a high school student but let me do this.’ Archie, sometimes I wonder about you.
So what does Hiram think about this? He thinks that Archie should get his former Dark Circle members to track the Black Hood down, but we all remember how that toxic masculine mess worked out last time. We still shudder from it. You might wonder, what about Betty? Well, she has been giving creepy looks to her dad, Hal, at the breakfast table and it makes us think that she suspects that he’s the culprit, which given what he has been through ever since season one, it wouldn’t be a surprise.
While Hiram is pretending to be a “great role-model” towards Archie, Hiram’s mafia friends are sending their sons to Riverdale to “court” Veronica to form alliances with the Lodge family. If I didn’t know any better, I would say it reminds me of a Shakespeare play, a Greek tragedy or one of those romcoms. Maybe all three? The reason you might ask? They were impressed with Veronica’s ransoming of Nick St.Clair last week and now, they want to be apart of the family. The only way we would be down is if it means more eye candy for everyone.
When we get back to Betty, she definitely thinks Hal is the Black Hood (which if you go back and look at the past episodes, it makes sense.). Who does she confide in about all of this? Cheryl, of course. The reason is that 1) Cheryl’s dad killed her brother and was a murderer. 2) Cheryl has all the answers to life’s questions, where can we get a friend like Cheryl? She tells Betty to tread lightly, then she tosses her hair, leaves and all of us are picking up our jaws from the floor.
You might wonder, does Archie brings back the group of toxic masculinity? Yep, he sure does and he makes sure to include, perfect, somewhat innocent who wants to be left alone Kevin this time around. Come to find out, Moose tells the Dark Circle that he and Midge had a fight backstage at Carrie because she was cheating on him with a Serpent and that makes the Circle fried up. So what do The Serpents and the Dark Circle do again? You guessed it, they have a light physical fight about this. Can we get the smell of testosterone out of here again? Here’s a secret Riverdale, boys don’t fight that much in high school. So take a chill pill adolescent boys, there’s a murder on the loose. That’s more important than fighting with the Serpents, again.
