The show Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been in renewal or cancellation limbo for awhile, but today it was announced the fifth season of the show will be the last. The fans and actors on the show tried to rally Fox to renew with #RenewB99.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a cop show following the detectives part of the 99th precinct in Brooklyn. The show followed Andy Samberg’s character, Jake Peralta, grow up, mess up, fall in love and fight crime. Samberg didn’t carry the show by himself. Andre Braugher played his literal and highly intelligent boss, Captain Raymond Holt. He was the moral compass, but also provided so much unexpected comic relief.
Dan Goor (The Good Place and Parks and Recreation) and Mike Schur (The Good Place, Master of None, Parks and Recreation and The Office) are the executive producers of the show. Brooklyn Nine-Nine reached its 100th episode milestone this season, making it Fox’s second longest live-action comedy after New Girl, which is also getting canceled.
The ratings for the show weren’t great, but the critical reception was off the charts. In 2014 it won Best Television Series Comedy or Musical at the Golden Globes. Samberg also took home Best Performance by an Actor for a comedy series that same year. Braugher won a Critics Choice Television Award in 2014 and 2016.
Since the news broke that Brooklyn Nine-Nine was officially canceled it started trending on Twitter. Right now almost 52,000 tweets have been posted mourning the loss of a genuinely delightful hilarious show.

Many of the fans are thanking the show for its proper representation. The main cast has multiple POC and proper Latinx and LGBTQ+ representation. Fans are also tagging Netflix and Hulu asking them to pick up the show. It’s not that far-fetched of an idea. When Fox axed, The Mindy Project Hulu picked up the show.
