First and foremost, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE GOT SAVED BY NBC! That means NINE-NINE lives on for season six! The only tears you should be crying, are tears of joy. You can definitely say that this episode shines ever so brightly under that news.
Alright, let’s get to the episode since our favorite precinct is saved.
In this week’s cold opening, Hitchcock comes into the break room complaining that he was shunned and mistreated in a coffee shop for being a police officer. Jake comes to the rescue and told him that it wasn’t because he was a cop, but it was about something else. TMI.
Amy is excited to continue with the final week of wedding planning with Jake (which we have to go and pick out something to wear on our couch) and she reveals this is a huge binder of tasks left, which is a panic attack waiting to happen, it’s not healthy. While she’s talking to Jake, Amy notices Rosa working on a case with a killer and drug lord named Sergio Mindar, her nemesis, who vanished into thin air seven years ago and has been taunting the two ever since, which is a thing that enemies do. Rosa got a new lead that he’s in town and Amy wants to help Rosa.
On that note, Jake told Amy that she should join Rosa on catching their arch nemesis and he’ll take over the wedding tasks. He soon realizes that he’s far behind on his tasks and his alarm isn’t helping his stress, so he recruits, pleads Terry’s help, knowing that he is a great husband. Terry reluctantly agrees to drop his plan for the day to help Jake with his tasks.
While Jake, Terry, Rosa, Amy are doing their own thing, Gina comes to Holt and warns him that his opponent for commissioner-ship, Olivia Crawford, is coming to meet with him. She also informs him that their mutual opponent, John Kelly, is ahead and has half of the committee’s votes when the other half is divided between Olivia and Holt. Both Olivia & Holt think one has to step down to not let Kelly win. However, neither is willing to do so and that leads to Gina & Charles recommend rumor-mongering to sabotage Olivia’s campaign, but Holt refuses because it would be dishonorable and will be against his morals. We all know how Holt is when it comes to his morals.
Amy and Rosa think Sergio is back in New York because he is short on money, and they notice he is likely heading to one of his old hideouts. When they get there, they notice he was there, but he left them with a taunting message again. So they end up going back to the precinct, where they found a connection and Amy comes up with a plan to go undercover at a nursing home where Sergio’s grandmother, Louise is in, whom Sergio met before he vanished last. So that means, going undercover as nurses as a try to get her to reveal her grandson’s location. One thing that they didn’t plan on, Louise doesn’t know when she would see Sergio next and she hasnt seen him, yep that’s right, in the last seven years.
Meanwhile, that’s happening. Jake stresses out his indecisiveness over napkins, fearing Amy would hate the choices he makes. Terry steps in by motivating him by telling him to trust his “groom gut”. which Jake started doing. They head back to the precinct, where they plana the tasks to organize the wedding and Jake completes all of them while going way over budget. Which, Jake finds a way to make a big saving to get them back on budget, that means he enlists Scully and Hitchcock’s help.
Holt and Olivia meet again, who had come up with a different option to solve the issue. Holt announces that he mailed the committee to step down, realizing he was acting selfishly and Olivia would make a good commissioner with her intelligence and forward-thinking. In which, Olivia reveals that she also sent a similar letter, effectively giving the victory to Kelly. Gina suggests finding the letters before anyone can read them and so the group heads out to the post office storage.
Once everything is done with, Jake, Terry, Scully, and Hitchcock go to deliver a shipment to the venue, Jake accidentally leaves the car keys inside and the locksmith cannot arrive soon enough to leave them enough time. Terry convinces him that the most important part was Jake caring and trying his hardest, even if he makes mistakes. Inspired, he breaks the window to get the keys out, much to Terry’s dismay.
Amy comes clean about what happened seven years ago. The team had him cornered in a warehouse and had all exits sealed, Amy heard a noise and went to check it out, leaving her post, in which giving Sergio an opportunity to escape. Which, gets Rosa upset but a man working at the nursing home and knowing that they are undercover detectives., tells the two that Lousie was appointed for a therapy session at another building which is wildly irregular for her to do so. They leave the nursing home to follow the new lead, another woman from the nursing home calls them to tell them that a strange man is searching Louise’s room for something. After the woman confirming that it was him, they rush back to the nursing home. In the process of running after Sergio, Amy injuries herself, soon after that Rosa reveals she went to medical and business school.
When Holt finds his letter, he destroys and Olivia reveals she, favoring more modern methods, has sent an email instead of a physical letter. Which eliminating her chances. She wanted to help because she would much rather have Holt than Kelly as the next commissioner. Do we blame her?
hen they soon realize that Sergio is aided by the man at the nursing home. So what do they do? They go and find him at the man’s apartment, they finally, catch him.
