Khalid was born on February 11, 1998, in Fort Stewart, Georgia. He moved around a lot as a child because of his mother Linda Wolfe’s career in the military. He has lived in many places throughout his life from Fort Cambell in Kentucky, Fort Drum in Watertown, New, York and he lived for six years in Heidelberg, Germany. During his time in high school, he discovered his true passion for music and for creating music.


2012-2016

Khalid discovered a passion for musical theatre in high school, which kickstarted his love for music. It is in high school that Khalid started to write and create music posting his early works to SoundCloud. He had a collaboration with Brasstracks on SoundCloud, “Whirlwind” receiving over 700,000 track plays.

Khalid moved to El Paso, Texas during his junior year of college. El Paso a huge inspiration of Khalid’s, and he is in love with El Paso and considers there to be his true home.

In 2016, his single “Location” began to chart and Khalid was featured in many famous publications such as Billboard and Rolling Stone.


2017

2017 is when Khalid truly began to be recognized by famous artists. He was featured on Kendrick Lamar’s song “The Heart Part 4,” on March 24, 2017, and alongside Alessia Cara was featured in Logic’s single “1-800-273-8255,”  released on April 28, 2017. The single peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.

Khalid sold out every venue on his 21 city debut tour, “Location Tour” from January-February 2017. Immediately following the tour his debut album American Teen was released on March 3, 2017. He also went on tour again on his “American Teen” tour.

The album received Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album and Best R&B song for his single, “Location.” On October 24, 2017, the album was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of American. Also in 2017, Khalid won a VMA Award for Best New Artist and he made his television debut on March 15, 2017, performing “Location” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. 

His song “Angels” was featured on Grey’s Anatomy on the episode, “Don’t Stop Me Now” which aired on April 27, 2017.


2018

Khalid kicked off his 2018 on his “American Teen” tour starting in the United States and then branching out on a sold-out World Tour.

On February 14th Khalid released “Love Lies” with Normani of Fifth Harmony for the soundtrack for the movie Love, Simon. He additionally released the song “The Ways” with rapper Swae Lee which was featured in Marvel film Black Panther. 

On May 20th, Khalid along with Shawn Mendes put on a powerful performance of “Youth,” joined by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas choir.

Khalid has already accomplished so much more in 2018–and it’s not even halfway through the year yet! We cannot wait to see what else he will accomplish.
