On Sunday evening, news broke that yet another celebrity death had happened. On Sunday, June 10, news broke that actor Jackson Odell had died on Friday, June 8, the same day as the celebrity chef and TV host, Anthony Bourdain.
According to reports, the 20-year-old, who was famous for playing Ari Caldwell on The Goldbergs from 2013-2015, was found unresponsive in a sober living home in Tarzana, California. As of late, an autopsy was said to be in process to discover the official cause of death. It’s also been confirmed that no foul play was involved in Odell’s death.
Despite the official cause of death has yet to be confirmed, some outlets and Twitter users are claiming Odell’s cause of death may be due in part to drugs.

Two days later, Odell’s family released a statement on Twitter confirming the devastating news.
“The Odell family has lost our beloved son and brother, Jackson Odell, on Friday. He will always be a shining light and a brilliant, loving and talented soul. He had so much more to share. Our family will always carry that truth forward. Out wish is that the rest of the world who knew and loved him does as well. We are now going to try to make sense of our immeasurable loss privately. We will not be making anymore statement.”
Following the family’s announcement of his death, Odell’s former costar and close friend Ariel Winter tweeted about the loss. Winter reflected on the two’s extended friendship, noting that while they knew each other for eight years, the two lost touch during their high school years. Despite losing touch, Winter went on to say how glad she was to get to spend time with Odell before his passing.

Another The Goldbergs costar, Charlie DePew, also shared his reaction to Odell’s passing, writing on his Twitter account as well.

Aside from his budding career as an actor, Odell was also known for his music–most notably his songwriting skills. Odell had contributed to several original songs to the 2018 movie Forever My Girl. And had several guest-starring roles on the shows Private Practice, Modern Family, Arrested Development and iCarly.
Jackson’s death is the third celebrity death that was reported within a span of seven days. On Tuesday, June 5, famous fashion designer Kate Spade was found dead in her home from an apparent suicide and on Friday, June 8, celebrity chef, author, and tv host Anthony Bourdain was found dead in a hotel room in France, also from suicide.
