During the second week of Becca’s Bachelorette season Colton, who was a front-runner, revealed that he and Tia Booth dated. I’m a Bachelorette newbie. I haven’t watched in years and decided to join back into Bachelor Nation this season. When Colton revealed this huge news I immediately texted my sister and Bachelor friends asking why this would cause drama. My new Bachelorette brain has no idea how big of a deal this was at the time.
For starters Tia and Becca are friends. They met as contestants on Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s season of the Bachelor. They made it to the top four together.

As everyone knows, even those who are new to the Bachelor, Arie proposed to Becca, broke up with her on national television and then proposed to the runner-up Lauren at the reunion show. Before this all went down there were talks and rumors that Tia was the next Bachelorette. But when Becca got dumped production went with her instead.
Seems suspicious, right? On tonight’s episode, Tia makes an appearance and things get awkward between the three. The former Bachelor contestant explains to People exactly what went down between her and Colton.

“We started talking before my season started airing,” Tia told People. “Colton was in the casting process for The Bachelorette, and he followed me on Instagram.”
Tia slid into his DMs and that’s how the two began talking. He told her that he applied to be on The Bachelorette but hasn’t heard back that he made it on. “The whole time I kept thinking, ‘What are the odds that he would get on the show?’” Tia said.
They met up and went out on a date in Los Angeles. A few weeks later he found out that he made it onto the next season of The Bachelorette and their budding relationship came to a stop.
But don’t worry Tia isn’t upset over it. She said, “I knew he needed to do what he needed to do.”
She tried to tell Becca about her relationship with Colton during After the Final Rose in March, but according to People, she wasn’t able to.
“I just wanted to make sure they would give each other a chance,” she says. “I didn’t want Becca to see our friendship as the most important thing and not give him that chance.”
