With Taylor Swift busy touring the world right now in promotion of her latest album, Reputation, her loyal fans are coming to her defense on social media following the announcement and complete list of nominations for this year’s MTVVideo Music Awards. Despite Swift being the hottest thing trending right now, many fans took to Twitter and social media incredibly pissed that the 28-year-old singer wasn’t nominated much at all for the 2018 awards set to air live next month. Swifties also called attention to an apparent snub for the Video of the Year and had A LOT to say about it online.
Bronx rapper and new mom, Cardi B may be leading with 10 nominations, following the release of the complete list of nominations for this year’s VMAs, but Swift fans everywhere were left scratching their heads when they noticed that Swift, had nominations in just three categories, none of them being major categories.

The biggest snub fans are freaking out about involves the coveted Video of the year category, which Swift was noticeably left off of.
Taylor Swift:
The Most Popular Artist of 2018 according to reports
The 2nd highest earning female artist of 2018 so far
All 6 of her albums has sold 4M+ copies
On a Stadium Tour projected to gross 400M+$She is the artist of the year and deserves the award#VMAsAreCanceled pic.twitter.com/84JjpU1hGz

Nominees for that category include Ariana Grande’s optical illusion “No Tears Left to Cry,” Bruno Mars and Cardi B’s throwback “Finesse (Remix),” Camila Cabello and Young Thug’s “Havana,” The Carters French dream “APES**T,” Childish Gambino’s thought-provoking “This Is America” and Drake’s blessed “God’s Plan” videos. Noticeably absent from this list was Swift’s video “Look What You Made Me Do.”
Fans immediately took to Twitter to express their disappointment and anger over the snub and called all Swifties to rally together in solidarity and support of Swift.
Yo, @MTV! How could you not nominate @taylorswift13 for VIDEO OF THE YEAR? Taylor had one of the best music videos of all time! #LookWhatYouMadeMeDo pic.twitter.com/BWg3KiU4qx

Where the hell is TAYLOR SWIFT? Hello? Look what you made me do was LEGENDARY.
I can't believe it…
I'm so disappointed— there's a reservoir in your eyes (@horanschords_) July 16, 2018
I don't why I still waste my time on irrelevant award shows like @vmas They're officially cancelled! Excluding Taylor Swift and her iconic record-breaking LWYMMD video from the main categories is absurd. Now I'm going to do something more productive. #VMAs #VMAsAreCanceled

Even some Twitter users who weren’t necessarily fans of Swift noted that the snub wasn’t cool.
I'm not a Taylor Swift fan but c'monnnnnn Look What You Made Me Do You deserved a nomination for video of the year wth :/ #VMAs

Lads, as much as i despise the song Look What You Made Me Do, but the mv was bloody great. There is a reason why it broke the vevo record. There is a reason why it's still talked about even to this very day. MTV, start talking now. @MTV #VMAs #VMAsAreCanceled

Following the snub, the #VMASAreCanceled quickly became a trending hashtag on social media largely in part to upset Swifties looking for justice.

While Swift wasn’t nominated for any major awards for this year’s VMAs, Swift did receive three nominations for her “Look What You Made Me Do” video for Best Art Direction, Best Visual Effects, and Best Choreography.
What are your thoughts on Swift’s noms? Do you think she was snubbed? Will you be tuning in to the 2018 MTV VMAs when it’s broadcasted live next month?
