‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before’ Actor Israel Broussard Apologizes For Problematic Tweets

To All The Boys I’ve Love Before dropped on Netflix on August 17, and since then the fan base for the movie and books has exploded. Fans are already hounding Netflix for if there will be a sequel and when it will eventually come out.

With a rabid fanbase, there is bound to be some issues.  Fans unearthed old tweets from actor Israel Broussard, who plays Josh the neighbor, and they’re very problematic, and some are very recent.

The 24-year-old has liked pro-Trump, pro-gun and lot of anti tweets. He has tweeted various times about being again Black Lives Matter and is an All Lives Matter supporter. In 2016 he tweeted multiple times dissing Black Lives Matter.

“hashtags don’t f**king matter,” Broussard tweeted in August 2016. “but all lives do. black lives matter. white lives matter. police lives matter.”

“Black Lives Matter had one goal. Divison,” he posted in 2016 as well.

He also liked a bunch of tweets about the travel ban and separation of families at the border. He liked tweets from Ben Shapiro that says the travel ban isn’t comparable to the Japanese internment during World War II and Nazi Germany. Another tweet he liked was about supporting guns and conceal carry. He also favorited a tweet making light of the separation of families at the border.

Broussard also liked a tweet supporting the idea that the Sandy Hook shooting was staged and fake.

To make matters even worse, in 2011 he tweeted something racist about Japanese people. In 2011 Japan was hit by Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Broussard tweeted, “Dogs can sense earthquakes. Too bad Japan ate them all.” His tweet makes light of the stereotype that Asians eat dogs.

This tweet is genuinely upsetting considering he was in To All The Boys I’ve Love Before which is fronted by an Asain-American woman and is based on a book that is written by an Asain-American woman.

Since his tweets have gone viral, he has deleted them and unliked tweets. He tweeted an apology for his actions.

“i am deeply sorry for my inappropriate and insensitive words and likes on social media. i take full responsibility for my actions and i sincerely apologize. this has been a pivotal life lesson for me. i am dedicated to becoming a more informed and educated version of myself. much love – israel”
