A Mom Refused To Pay Her Babysitter Because Her Kids Were Easy To Watch

Babysitting is a classic job for teenagers looking to make a few extra bucks. It’s also a great side gig for people looking to make some extra cash. Either way, babysitting always ends with parents paying the sitter.

That’s why this story between an unnamed mother and sitter Kristen is going viral on Reddit.

Screenshots between the mom and Kristen were shared on the site by Kristen’s brother. Kristen texted the mom that she enjoyed babysitting her two kids and wants to stop by the next day. Why she wasn’t paid right after babysitting is unknown.

The mom texts back, “I wasn’t aware payment was involved. You got free ice cream and a day of fun…I’m sorry for the misinterpretation.”

Kristen then replies saying they agreed on a payment of $16 an hour. The mother says she doesn’t remember this conversation and that she deletes her texts regularly and asks for a screenshot for proof.

Kristen replies with the screenshot showing text from the mom saying, “$16 an hour sound [sic] fair?”

Instead of acknowledging the agreed payment amount she asks if Kristen will compromise and accept $20 for the entire day.

“Well, you’re acting kind of stuck up aren’t you? Can we compromise at $20?” the mom texts Kristen.

The babysitter response is less than ecstatic. “No. I watched your kids for eight hours and we agreed on $16/hr. $128 is the total.”

The mom refuses to pay the sitter $128 for a day of babysitting because “they’re easy kids!”

The sitter responds that this isn’t a discussion because $16 an hour was the agreed upon payment. She even says she would accept $100 for her services.

The mother then responds refusing to pay $100 and proceeds to call Kristen the C-word.

“Absolutely not. I wish I didn’t have such a stuck up c**t watching my kids,” the mom texts back. “I am going to block you now – please do not contact me again.”

Kristen responds, “Are you serious?” and her texts, which was blue the entire conversation, is now green.

The Redditt thread that follows is wild. Users urge them to take the mother to small claims court, post the screenshots and tell every babysitter in the area to not work for the woman. Some even suggest going on Judge Judy.

The brother gave an update saying that his sister Kristen is going to contact the husband about the money and hopefully he is a “tad more reasonable.”
