Zephen Xaver has been identified as the mass shooter who walked into a SunTrust Bank in Sebring, Florida and open-fired on a group of hostages. At least five people were killed in the shooting before Xaver turned himself in.

Zephen Xaver, 21, is the suspect responsible for today’s active shooting and hostage situation at the SunTrust Bank in Sebring, Florida. Xaver, who is reportedly from Sebring, Florida, is currently in police custody.
Xaver’s Facebook profile includes a disturbing cover photo of what appears to be the grim reaper. The Facebook page, which identifies his residence as Sebring, Florida, only has nine friends.

“At approximately 12:36 p.m. today, the Sebring Police Department responded to the SunTrust Bank at 1901 US 27 South in Sebring. A subject contacted dispatch and reported that he had fired shots inside the bank,” the Sebring Police Department said in an official statement.
“SPD officers and deputies from the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and established a perimeter. After negotiations to try to get the barricaded subject to exit the bank were not successful, the HCSO SWAT team entered the bank and continued the negotiations. The suspect eventually surrendered to the HCSO SWAT team. The situation is confined to the bank and there is no danger to the surrounding area. US 27 continues to be closed in both directions from Golfview Drive to Lakeview Drive.”
Xaver’s identity was announced at a 4:30 p.m. news conference at the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office.
