NYC Dietian Tragically Commits Suicide After Posting Public Suicide Note Online

Tara Condell, a 27-year-old dietitian in New York City, was found hanged to death in her West Village, Manhattan apartment on Wednesday, January 30. Her tragic death comes after she posted a suicide note on her website.

According to the New York Police department, responding officers found Condell — a native of San Fransisco, California — with a cloth around her neck inside the bedroom at her home on West 10th Street.

She was found around 4:30 p.m. local time while the NYPD officers were conducting a wellness check after concerned co-workers noticed that shd did not show up to her job at Top Balance Nutrition and saw that Condell posted the note online.

Her public suicide note, which remains online, says she “felt absolutely nothing during what should have been the happiest and darkest times in my life.”

“I often felt detached while in a room full of my favorite people; I also felt absolutely nothing during what should have been the happiest and darkest times in my life. No single conversation or situation has led me to make this decision, so at what point do you metaphorically pull the trigger?” Condell wrote.

Condell closed the note by asking for “no GoFundMes, no funeral, no tributes, no doing-too-much please” and saying “I’m really sorry mama.”

In addition to the suicide note, Condell also linked to a public Spotify playlist titled “See Ya.”

The playlist includes songs such as “Simply Beautiful” by Al Green — a song she references specifically in her note — “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman, “Nothing Compares 2 U” by Prince, “Self Control” by Frank Ocean, “I’ll Fly Away” by Kanye West, “Sunday Candy” by Chance the Rapper, and others. In total, the playlist consists of 18 songs.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Condell’s friends and family during this difficult time.
