Instagram is one of the most popular forms of social media. We wake up every day and immediately check the feed to give our favorite celebrities and friends alike on their latest pic. The real struggle for Instagram users is to decide what to post and where, but guess what?
Instagram users won’t have to try too hard to find a cool place anymore. Starting in 2018, creators of many famous pop-up shops, such as Michelle Price and Cynthia Huang, teamed up in designing an interactive pop-up shop called, “Instagram playgrounds,” where many people can take pictures in these vibrant, colorful, and fun environments for their accounts. The playgrounds started to open in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and other major cities. They usually charge people $18 to $45 to capture their experiences in immersive “Instagram playgrounds.” There are many sections in the pop-up shop for people to capture “Insta-worthy” pics for the gram, and it is likely that lots of their users will like it up!

Visitors see Instagram playgrounds as a place to boost their social media game, but for some users, it’s about more than a filtered and artsy photo.
Michelle Price, on-site brand manager of The Egg House, a pop-up exhibit that started in New York and is currently in Los Angeles, attracting over 16,330 Instagram followers, mentioned how, “It’s meant to feel like a dreamscape, a little oasis away from the chaos of the city”, which is the goal of the playground.
She also said, “Every installation is meant to be interactive. Usually, when you go to an art exhibit they’re more passive, you have that sense of separation.”

Pop-up exhibits like The Egg House use precise techniques when it comes to lighting and color schemes to ensure their millennial visitors look “on fleek.”
Another contributor, Cynthia Huang, who is the founder of the Happy-Go-Lucky pop-up shop in Los Angeles, mentioned how she “lost herself” while exploring the Instagram playground. Cynthia Huang said, “You just forget who you are. Every New Yorker deserves a place where they just have fun and enjoy.”
