The 4 of the Best Female Characters of TV History

I don’t know about you, but television shows are what get me through my long weeks. A day without bingeing my favorite sitcom is a long, stressful day to say the least. There’s something soothing about the ability to take your mind off everything that may have happened in that day and zone in on a fictional world.

Of course, these iconic television shows that make up our daily routines would not be complete without the incredibly talented actors portraying the characters we know and love. We relate to and laugh at these characters, and through it all, it makes our real lives a little more bearable.

So this is a shoutout to all of the amazing actors and screenwriters behind our favorite characters, television truly would not be the same without them. Here are our favorite female characters that have graced our screens.

Annalise Keating, How to Get Away With Murder

If you count down the days until TGIT (that’s ‘thank god it’s Thursday’ for all the non-ABC diehards), you’re familiar with this strong female lead. Annalise has had her ups and downs, but at the end of the day, she’s a self-sufficient, confident female who I would have represent me in court any day.

Tara Thorton, True Blood

This is one girl with a bad side that should most definitely be avoided. Coming from an abusive background, we can’t help but sympathize with this feisty female. She’s also known for pouring up cocktails and conversation at Merlotte’s. While she has a difficult time performing her duties, the average bartending wage of $12.63 an hour was her source of survival.

Rachel Green, Friends

Okay, sorry to all the Phoebe and Monica fans (they’re admittedly strong enough to have their own place on this list too), but this one goes out to Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green. Aniston has won Emmys and Golden Globes for her performance in the Friends era.

Rachel is one of those characters that is painfully relatable to anybody and everybody. From her awkward love life (they were on a break!!!) to her professional struggles, there’s a Rachel era for everyone.

Can we get a Friends revival yet?

Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation

Of course, no list of strong television females would be complete without the genius Amy Pohler. Even if you haven’t seen Parks and Rec, you’ve probably heard dozens of references to this iconic character.

As the series’ protagonist, Knope is an iconic symbol that embodies what we all aspire to be. In the words of Knope, “I am big enough to admit that I am often inspired by myself”. We’re inspired by you too, Leslie.

Honestly, this list could go on for days. There are so many incredible women in Hollywood that narrowing it down to just a handful is a true challenge. At the end of the day, we’re so thankful for the producers and writers who have brought our favorite characters to life.

Seriously, who could imagine a world in which there wasn’t a Leslie Knope quote to get you out of all of the awkward situations life throws at you?
