Is it that time of year again to be haunted by that scary clown? Apparently so, because the new IT Chapter Two trailer has just been released! The kids we came to know and love have now become full-blown adults who must go toe-to-toe with Pennywise in what looks to be an even more gruesome turn of events.
The sequel features:
- Molly’s Game star Jessica Chastain who took over the role of ‘Beverly Marsh’ previously played by Sophia Lillis
- Split star James McAvoy as ‘Bill Denbrough’ (previously played by Jaeden Lieberher)
- SNL‘s Bill Hader as ‘Richie Tozier’ (previously played by Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard)
- Sinister star James Ransone as ‘Eddie Kaspbrack’ (previously played by Shazam! star Jack Dylan Grazer)
- Jay Ryan as ‘Ben Hanscom’ (previously played by Jeremy Ray Taylor)
- Andy Bean as ‘Stanley Uris’ (previously played by Wyatt Oleff)
- Isaiah Mustafa as ‘Mike Hanlon’ (previously played by breakout star Chosen Jacobs)
- and Bill Skarsgard as ‘Pennywise the Dancing Clown’ in both movies.
The second chapter takes place 27 years after the first movie in which the “loser’s club” formed. Seven children in the town of Derry, Maine, bond over the plight of being outcasts and the fact that a tremendously scary demon-clown named ‘Pennywise’ wants to eat them. The first film establishes some of the hardships the kids face in their home lives as well as their greatest fears which, of course, Pennywise uses to his advantage. With the power of teamwork, the kids of Derry beat Pennywise into hiding once more, effectively ending their torment.
The films are an adaptation from the 1986 horror novel by Stephen King called IT, with IT Chapter One making 700.4 million USD. It was a no brainer that there would be a sequel with just as much star power.
IT Chapter Two, set to release on September 6, 2019, will dive into the lives of the now grown-up “loser’s club” and how the killer clown has awoken from his slumber to seek his revenge. Check it out the official trailer:
